PA House Bill 2489 Gains Support by 15-10 Committee Vote

LEGISLATIVE ACTION ALERT & UPDATE:

PA House Bill 2489 Gains Support by 15-10 Committee Vote

PA House Bill 2489 has been voted out of the Pennsylvania State Government Committee by a 15-10 vote.  This is a crucial next step for the bill that would allow Pennsylvanians to engage in outdoor recreational activities, including motorsports, as long as they adhere to the CDC’s established health and social distancing protocols.

House Bill 2489 is up for second consideration in the PA House on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.  The USMA Government Affairs Team continues to work with State House Representative Dave Maloney, Chairman of the PA Motorsports Caucus, as we move this important legislation forward in Pennsylvania.

“Now that the governor has allowed outdoor activities such as golf and camping to be open for business, I think it is only appropriate to extend these activities to other outdoor sports and activities citizens can participate in while observing the appropriate and safety procedures,” said Dave Maloney, Chairman of the PA Motorsports Caucus.  “Not everybody golfs or camps—some enjoy other outdoor activities such as shooting sports, motorsports, and ball games.  I believe we can reopen these and other wholesome outdoor activities in a safe manner.”
